A Childhood Dream Come True

Not my own, but Arin's. :)

I will be attending my first ever Harlem Globetrotters event. I really don't know much about the Harlem Globetrotters. I kind of had a whoop di do attitude about them. For some reason I thought they played a real game of basketball but maybe did a few tricks here and there. It wasn't until recently that someone informed me

***WARNING - SPOILER ALERT***

that the other team is indeed fake and that no actual game was to be played. I'm excited to help Arin fulfill her lifetime childhood dream of seeing these folks in the flesh, but at the same time, all I gotta say is - they better be effing amazing.

Sorry for using the word effing, Mom.

Also - Arin - still really excited to see them. :)

I would love to see the Globetrotter's one of these days. I think I'll be a member of the team one day.

yeah, so the team that tours with the harlem globetrotters is called the washington generals. of course they're an important part of the harlem globetrotter organization because they sort of have to be in on the tricks as well as good sports for looking like fools.

one of my favorite simpsons episodes is when krusty is discovered to be deep in debt from gambling on sporting events. one of his entourage remarks that it was probably a bad idea to bet on the washington generals. his response: "i thought the generals were due! look at him! he's just spinning the ball on his finger! just take it! take the ball! i swear the game was fixed! i mean the guy was using a freakin' ladder!"

Yes, I finally got to fulfill my childhood dream! While I was definately entertained (mostly by the inflatable globe head guy), I was a little disappointed in the lack of actual basketball that was played. I would have liked to have seen a little more talent other than dunking everytime down the floor. Overall, it was some great family-friendly, wholesome entertainment! :) I would go again for a night out. It sure beats falling asleep in front of the TV every night at 7:30.
